Online Psychotherapy/Books

Social Worker, Psychotherapist, and Author

Hello! I June Tyson. I come to you from Brooklyn, New York. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-R) and a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, (ACSW). I practice psychotherapy in Brooklyn.

My MSW is from Fordham University and my Ph.D. is in Human Services from Capella University. I am an adjunct professor for the master’s degree in Counseling Program at Liberty University and Indiana Wesleyan University.

I enjoy traveling as a missionary to countries such as Thailand, Mexico, and Haiti. I have taught English to students in these countries. I am also a part of a Global Health Group, in which I travel, sharing social work techniques with doctors, social workers and nurses in various hospitals and universities in Nigeria and Haiti.

I have served the Christian community by teaching and living the Scriptures for more than 30 years. I am devoted to the things of the Lord and am led by the Holy Spirit in my professional and private life. However, cultural diversity is very important to me. I am very open to working and growing with people of all faiths and cultures.

The Art of Creating Meaning

As we continue to live, there will be experiences of loss. Loss can be defined as anything from death, to anything of which you feel deprived (affection, work, self-esteem, relationship, joy, hope, courage, etc.). You define what it is you have lost.

In the Art of Creating Meaning, we take the experience of loss and grow from it. Eventually, the loss becomes a triumphant experience. During the journey of Creating Meaning, you will learn to tap into your hidden strengths and talents. We will explore your creative side and build upon it. In the process, your self-esteem will be enhanced and your confidence will soar. Before long, you will regard the loss as a beautiful experience that has helped motivate you to do even more beautiful and wonderful things in your life.

Thus, the Art of Creating Meaning is a very useful way of overcoming various challenges of life. It will become a skill that you will find yourself using to assist you in understanding areas in life that are a source of confusion. Ultimately, your perspective of your life will change for the positive.

Finally, I always share my own story, when needed. I use it as a learning tool to show that I am a human being. I find that doing this enhances the therapeutic relationship. I am not ashamed to cry and mourn with you in your grief or rejoice with you in your success. I am here to serve. I look forward to Creating Meaning with you.
